About the Role

IMPACCT Brooklyn is seeking a seasoned and mission-driven Chief Program Officer (CPO) to join our Leadership Team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the CPO will provide strategic and operational leadership across IMPACCT Brooklyn’s programs and services while building a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture. The Chief Program Officer directly supervises program directors and managers and is responsible for staff development, performance management, training, and hiring. Working closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team, the CPO will ensure programs are effectively managed, responsive to community needs, and aligned with IMPACCT Brooklyn’s mission and long-term goals.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, planning, implementation, and evaluation of IMPACCT Brooklyn’s programs and services.
  • Develop and strengthen operational systems that improve program quality, coordination, and accountability.
  • Foster a supportive, collaborative, and results-oriented workplace culture.
  • Oversee the launch and implementation of new programs and initiatives.
  • Contribute to grant writing, reporting, and program evaluation.
  • Manage program budgets and support program leaders in developing and monitoring team budgets.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop program directors and managers, including performance management and hiring.
  • Partner with senior leadership on organizational priorities and special projects that expand capacity and impact.
  • Oversee community-building, organizing, and advocacy initiatives, including campaigns focused on housing and supportive services.
  • Lead long-term program planning and the development of program strategies, goals, and performance measures.
  • Analyze program performance and outcomes to strengthen effectiveness and respond to emerging community needs.
  • Build external partnerships and identify resources and opportunities that strengthen services for IMPACCT Brooklyn’s communities.
     
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in public administration, education, social work, or a related field; equivalent professional experience in community development or nonprofit leadership will be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • A minimum of five years of leadership experience in a nonprofit, school, or philanthropic setting, overseeing multiple programs or contracts.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence as it relates to community-based work.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), with the ability to learn program databases and tracking systems.

Work Environment
This position operates in an administrative office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level can range from moderate to loud due to open cubicle work areas, conversations, and general office activity. The role involves prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching, and may occasionally require lifting and moving up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Travel to other IMPACCT Brooklyn facilities may be required.


Schedule
This is a full-time position. The standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Travel may be expected.
