Job Description:

Responsibilities

Product Strategy

  • Define long term product strategy that is aligned with the company’s overall strategy to achieve sustainable profitability and business growth
  • Be an active participant in industry events, task force, think tank to represent SLHK and make influence to industry wide changes / regulations.
  • Develops a strategic approach to the product development plan to create a competitive and market leading product proposition.
  • Leverages insight, market dynamics, research, and the competition so products satisfy customer and distribution channels’ needs.
  • Maintains a strategic approach to the product roadmap to identify and respond to changes in the market and external environment.

Product Development and Pricing

  • Ultimately leads the Product Development Process to ensure it delivers the agreed products in line with the strategy and plan.
  • Guides the Product Development and Pricing team on enhancing their work flow and development process to reduce the development ‘time to market’.
  • Ensures the product proposition remains competitive, and takes appropriate action when and as required to maintain its competitiveness.
  • Provides leadership to the Product Pricing team to ensure that the product development meets internal approval requirements.
  • Guides the Product Pricing team on enhancing and streamlining their work flow and process to create efficiencies.

Product Implementation

  • Ultimately leads the Product Management team to ensure Product concept is implemented on time and on a flawless basis.
  • Scope includes all client facing materials, sales illustration, system setup, operational readiness, and training & roadshow.

Inforce Management

  • Responsible and accountable for the overall healthiness of the inforce portfolio. Devise metrics to measure profitability and monitor the performance of the inforce block
  • Devise action plans and tactics to handle different issues; and ensure successful and flawless implementation
  • Collaborate with Client Services / Operations to ensure the inforce policies deliver significant and meaningful client values and manage Policyholder Reasonable Expectation
  • Lead effort and work with regulators to ensure the Funds related materials for our Investment-Linked products are correct and up to date

People

  • Provides leadership to the Product development teams to ensure that they are continuously improving the synergy in the way they work together, with Life & Health colleagues, and other functions within the company
  • Be a champion to uplift the product function efficiency. Foster a culture that promotes fast turnaround and effective project management
  • Strengthens and builds product implementation, product management and pricing talent within the Company ensuring continuity of knowledge
  • Acts as a coach and mentor when required to further enhance the capabilities of the team.

Other

  • Represent the company at marketing and branding events as and when required, and provide additional support to the Deputy CEO, Life and Health with various initiatives from time to time

Requirements 

  • University degree with a recognized actuarial qualification (FSA required). Qualifications in business administration, economics, or finance are an advantage. 
  • At least 15 years’ experience in financial services, preferably life and health insurance, with a minimum of 7 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise in actuarial principles, product pricing, profitability management, and financial projections.
  • Strong knowledge of Hong Kong insurance regulations and market dynamics.
  • Advanced capability in data modelling, scenario analysis, and financial forecasting using technology tools. 
  • Strong grounding in actuarial modelling, mathematics, and analytics.
  • Solid understanding of investments, insurance fund management, insurance operations, and legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Strategic and analytical leader with strong business and financial acumen. Able to communicate complex actuarial and financial concepts clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven people leader with strong collaboration, decision-making, and execution skills, capable of managing competing priorities and driving continuous improvement.
