The Chief Perfusionist is, first and foremost, a uniquely and formally trained allied health professional, educated in the field of extracorporeal science, whose scope of practice expressly includes the utilization of extracorporeal devices. In accordance with Franciscan Alliance values, the Chief Perfusionist, also, possesses a leadership-oriented vision commensurate with the goal of providing departmental direction and clinical management to a group of perfusion professionals at multiple hospitals. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Perfusion oversite of both our Central and Western Indiana ministerial regions.
Occasional travel to our Western Indiana ministerial region.
Perform routine maintenance on all perfusion-related equipment.
Operate autotransfusion devices to minimize total blood loss during cardiac and other operations.
Assemble and operate extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and ventricular assist devices (VAD).
Apply extra-corporeal circulation to support vascular procedures, as required.
Minimize the risks associated with extracorporeal circulation through the safe and effective conduct of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
Perform point-of-care (POC) testing, interpreting the results which guide the conduct of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
