ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to develop and execute organizational strategy.
  • Translate strategic priorities into measurable operational objectives.
  • Establish performance metrics and accountability standards across operational departments.
  • Provide operational updates, recommendations, and performance reporting to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Lead organizational initiatives that support growth, sustainability, and mission advancement.
  • Partner with the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Leadership Team to establish organizational priorities, monitor enterprise performance, and ensure execution of strategic objectives across all areas of the organization.
  • Lead enterprise-wide operational planning, technology strategy, and organizational transformation initiatives that support long-term growth and sustainability.

Operational Leadership

  • Direct and oversee all operational functions of the organization, including:
    • Technical Director
    • Director of Donor Outreach and Collections
    • Director of Marketing
    • Director of Recruiting
    • Director of Information Technology
    • Contact Center Manager
    • Facilities & Fleet Manager
    • Other operational leaders as assigned
  • Ensure organizational resources, staffing structures, and operational systems are aligned to meet current and future service demands while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Lead emergency preparedness, disaster response, and business continuity efforts.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Provide executive oversight of the organization's information technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and business systems.
  • Ensure technology solutions support operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and organizational growth.
  • Partner with department leaders to identify, prioritize, and implement technology initiatives that improve workflows, donor experience, employee productivity, and data integrity.
  • Oversee cybersecurity, disaster recovery, data protection, and business continuity planning.
  • Champion innovation through emerging technologies, automation, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Provide executive oversight of marketing, branding, public relations, and communications strategies to strengthen community awareness, donor engagement, and organizational reputation.
  • Ensure marketing initiatives align with organizational growth objectives, donor recruitment strategies, and community partnerships.
  • Collaborate with development and operational leaders to support fundraising campaigns, public education initiatives, and strategic outreach efforts.

Leadership and Talent Development

  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing leaders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish succession planning initiatives within operational departments.
  • Promote employee engagement and professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing leadership support.

Financial Stewardship

  • Develop and oversee operational budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures and financial performance.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost containment.
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership regarding forecasting, capital planning, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of organizational assets and resources.
  • Evaluate operational investments, capital expenditures, and resource allocation strategies to support long-term organizational sustainability and growth.
  • Develop long-term technology investment strategies, capital planning, and lifecycle management for organizational technology assets.

Organizational Excellence

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Utilize operational data and key performance indicators to drive decision-making.
  • Lead process improvement efforts focused on efficiency, quality, donor satisfaction, and employee engagement.
  • Oversee enterprise technology implementations, system integrations, artificial intelligence initiatives, and operational improvement projects that enhance organizational performance.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain readiness for inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Compliance leadership to address findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety and risk awareness throughout the organization.

External Relations and Strategic Partnerships

  • Represent SunCoast Blood Centers within professional organizations, healthcare networks, and community partnerships.
  • Foster relationships with hospitals, healthcare providers, government agencies, and industry organizations.
  • Support organizational visibility and strategic growth opportunities.
  • Serve as an ambassador of SunCoast Blood Centers by promoting the organization's mission, values, and strategic initiatives within the communities it serves.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to travel between organizational locations and community events as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Medical Technology, Nursing, Public Health, Operations Management, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of executive-level operational leadership experience.
  • Experience leading multiple departments and large teams in a healthcare, blood banking, laboratory, manufacturing, logistics, or similarly regulated environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budget management, organizational development, and process improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Financial management and budget oversight experience.
  • Knowledge of FDA, AABB, CLIA, OSHA, and applicable regulatory standards.
