Northrop Grumman Space Sector is hiring a Chief Engineer - Level 5 to join the Program Engineering Management team within the Launch Systems located in Chandler, AZ.
The position is in Chandler, AZ and requires 100% on-site support.
The Staff Chief Engineer position will report to the Advanced Programs (AP) Chief Engineer. The Staff Chief Engineer will work with all the programs in the AP portfolio, supporting program execution of ongoing development activities, production, flight operations, and new business capture. This role supports the AP Chief Engineer with technical oversight of multiple programs and a multidisciplinary engineering team to successfully complete the required design and mission reviews; ensure compliance with both internal and customer requirements; ensure timely completion of customer deliverables, and lead the resolution of significant technical issues. As Staff Chief Engineer for Advanced Programs, you will be responsible for verifying that technical reviews meet central engineering standards. You will partner with Program Engineering Management Teams and Chief Engineers to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative engineering solutions. You will ensure subsystem and supporting technology development achieves program success and look for opportunities to leverage common designs and products. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in resolving complex problems are essential.
Role Description & Responsibilities:
The position supports the Advanced Programs Chief Engineer. You are responsible for the successful technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs in accordance with Northrop Grumman policies and procedures.
Help all Advanced Programs achieve 100% mission success.
Support the Program Management Team with broad technical experience and detailed (down-and-in) technical guidance to support engineering.
Support business development for new program proposals.
Maintain working relationships with the customer, providing timely communication and engaging to resolve technical questions posed by the customer.
Act as a driving force to implement prioritized Digital Transformation efforts as directed by the LS business unit.
Provide mature engineering leadership for the coordination and performance of internal reviews such as ERB, FRB, IFRR, and design reviews.
Ensure coordination between programs on common technical issues and strategic initiatives.
Ensure that designs and hardware builds meet all internal and customer requirements, especially across engineering discipline boundaries. Provide justification and adjudicate through proper boards any deviations or waivers to such requirements.
Perform other duties, as necessary, commensurate with the role of Chief Engineer
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 12 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 10 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 8 years of professional experience.
Must have an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
U.S. citizen.
Ability to travel occasionally (6-8 trips/year).
Must have a minimum of 12 years of directly related experience, including evidence of technical leadership.
Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication with customers and all levels of management.
Exceptional leader of a multi-disciplined team.
Thorough understanding of design standards, procurement processes, and configuration management.
Ability to work under limited supervision and properly mitigate risk.
Multi-disciplinary engineering experience or systems engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with tactical weapon missile systems including design, test, integration, and field operations is desired.

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
