Role 
We are looking for a Chief Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead the resort’s engineering function and ensure that all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in line with our brand standards. You will oversee maintenance strategies, support colleagues across the resort, and ensure that all legal and operational requirements are met. You will play an important part in creating a well‑maintained environment where our guests and colleagues feel safe and cared for.

 
Responsibilities 

  • Provide support to the wider resort executive team and operation through the delivery of a high quality, efficient and structured engineering service.

  • Day to day management of the engineering team including workload assessments, directing operations and ensuring adequate resources are available at all times.

  • Implementation and ongoing adherence to a planned preventative maintenance programme for the resort.

  • Ensuring work orders for corrective maintenance and planned maintenance are completed to quality and time criteria.

  • Development and monitoring of OPEX plans to ensure adequate budget provision is made and value for money is obtained.

  • Development and updating of 5 year and annual CAPEX plans for the resort which should include a planned approach to asset replacement, development opportunities etc.

  • Implementation of Aman Engineering standards for the resort.

  • Maintenance of a pro-active approach to ensuring all legal compliance requirements relating to engineering are met and that all certification is readily available.

  • Implement and monitor compliance against Aman Fire Systems Preventative Maintenance Policy. Report and execute any remedial actions necessary to ensure systems are operational and provide effective protection.

  • Appointment of external contractors as required and ongoing monitoring of performance and quality standards for services and works.

  • Arrange structural integrity surveys on a period or ad-hoc basis as required and ensure that any remedial actions are undertaken in a timely manner.

  • Responsibility for maintenance of the resort maintenance management system (MMS).

  • Development, implementation and monitoring of Health & Safety Standard Operating Procedures for the resort.

  • Participate in any projects being planned/carried out within the resort and act as local liaison with Aman Technical Services as required.

  • Provision of regular and ad-hoc reports for resort management and submission of monthly snapshot report for Corporate Engineering.

  • Monitoring energy and water management programs to ensure cost effective use of utilities.

 
Requirements 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Management

  • Minimum of five years in an engineering leadership role within a luxury hospitality environment, ideally with previous experience as an Engineering Manager or Maintenance Manager

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, water systems, and property and energy management systems

  • Experience managing maintenance and capital expenditure (CAPEX) budgets and ensuring compliance with building codes, health, fire, and life safety regulations, with a focus on efficient use of energy and water

  • Proven ability to lead and develop multi‑disciplinary teams, work collaboratively with other departments, resolve conflicts, and communicate effectively in English and Spanish in a diverse environment
