Own Your Opportunity
Take your career to new heights as a Chief Architect supporting one of the largest and most critical government organization in the country. At U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, managing, and optimizing cutting-edge enterprise IT systems that uphold the safety and security of our nation. This is your chance to lead transformative architecture initiatives that safeguard the future.
About USSTRATCOM
U.S. Strategic Command is central to guarding the nation’s security interests through leadership in strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, and innovative enterprise IT solutions. We control essential systems supporting Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO), and Global Strike initiatives, all while collaborating with other Combatant Commands, military branches, and defense agencies.
In this role, you will be integral to the Strategic Command Information Technology Lifecycle Support (SCITLS) initiative, building and maintaining IT and architecture solutions that are pivotal to mission success.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
As a Chief Architect, you will lead the development and curation of enterprise architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods in alignment with Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) standards. As a key leader, you will define digital platform architecture frameworks, establish best practices, and ensure that operational systems are secure, efficient, and capable of delivering essential data and metrics for national mission success.
In this strategic role, you will:
- Develop and manage enterprise models through MBSE methods using OMG frameworks (UML, DoWAF 2.0/UPDM, SysML, UAF).
- Define, design, and oversee the implementation of digital platform architecture frameworks, ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with enterprise strategy.
- Lead system decomposition at various levels of abstraction (capability, operational, system, and functional), ensuring alignment across diverse mission areas.
- Develop advanced executable models (fUML preferred) and extend models across tools via APIs or existing frameworks.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across system domains, analyzing requirements and enhancing processes, systems, and capabilities.
- Establish and maintain architecture that enables data analytics and the collection of program performance metrics critical to mission continuity and decision-making.
- Ensure all architectures comply with IT security frameworks, integrating a robust automated configuration management approach.
- Exhibit professional customer service and maintain strong, cross-departmental collaboration.
- This is a high-profile opportunity to support the development of systems that influence national security strategies, and you will be instrumental in shaping technological solutions with global impact.
Required Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should bring the following:
- Education: Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited school.
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years in systems architecture and modeling for federal programs, with 5+ years with Systems Modeling Language (SySML), DoWAF and 3 years’ experience with UAF.
- A minimum of five years’ experience within the last ten years, engineering complex IT systems
- Experience with tool automation and integration, technical auditing.
- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI eligibility is required.
- Certifications: ITIL 4 Foundation, in addition to possession of an 8140.03 Advanced level certification.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in framework-based systems (3+ years with UML, UAF, or SysML), with experience using modeling tools – Cameo Enterprise Architect preferred.
- A complete understanding of operating within DoW and USSTRATCOM security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following will strengthen your application:
- 5+ years of experience delivering federal IT services such as cloud architecture, cybersecurity, or network systems.
- Architecture certifications, such as those recognized by the Object Management Group (OMG).
- Systems Engineering certifications, such as those provided by the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE).
- Masters degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related field.
