We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate  Accountant to assist in ensuring that all the financial affairs of the lodger are conducted to the highest standards of honesty and integrity.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our team in Kafue, Zambia. As the Chief Accountant, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our organization's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management.

  • Lead and manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure financial integrity and compliance
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, collaborating with department heads to drive financial performance
  • Manage tax compliance and reporting, ensuring adherence to Zambian tax laws and regulations
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and implement recommendations for process improvements
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making
  • Implement and maintain robust financial systems and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, as well as regulatory requirements
  • Preparing and/or reviewing daily, weekly and monthly reports in accordance with the reporting calendars and Finance Policy Manual and ensuring that all reports are submitted on a timely basis and accurate.
  • Finalize P&L and ensure necessary journal entries are created for corrections.
  • Verify and upload financial reports and ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role
  • In-depth knowledge of Zambian accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations
  • Strong technical skills in financial reporting, analysis, and management accounting
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, accounting software, and advanced MS Excel skills

  • Experience in a multinational or fast-paced business environment is highly desirable
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality
