The Role
- Manage, monitor and mentor/train the entire accounting team (4 accountants).
- Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
- Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers (e.g. accounts receivables, accounts payables, revenue, expenses, fixed assets register etc.), overseeing the correctness of posting.
- Supervises the month end close and prepares the supporting reports for monthly management accounts.
- Supervises the year end close including reconciliations and preparation of reports for consolidation.
- Supervises and participates in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Posting of accruals, provisions, prepaid expenses, entries re fixed assets etc., solving of complex accounting problems
- Review and improvement of accounting and administrative controls.
- Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
- Communication and cooperation with the external/internal auditors, tax advisors, tax authorities, banks etc.
- Controlling support
- Monthly VAT reporting, preparation of annual income tax return, road tax and other tax matters
- Ensure compliance with the Czech Accounting Standards
- Administrative support to the accounting department and other related work including accounting documents archiving.
- Work collaboratively with other teams to achieve shared goals.
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant.
- Proven experience as an accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant.
- Awareness of business trends and advanced knowledge of accounting and tax legislation.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including “Vlookups” and pivot tables.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability of working with numbers.
- Fluent knowledge of Czech and/or Slovak language.
- Written and spoken knowledge of English - level (B2).
- Independence, diligence, responsibility, reliability.
