Role

Amantaka Hotel in beautiful Luang Prabang, Laos is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to oversee the accounting team and ensure accurate, complete financial records. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will help safeguard the hotel’s assets by maintaining strict financial controls and supporting sound accounting practices. This leadership role requires strong attention to detail and a commitment to Aman’s standards of financial integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and assist in trial balance preparation to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Review and process vendor invoices with proper coding and approvals; monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations, monitor cash flow, and assist in cash flow forecasting.
  • Support payroll processing and final settlements, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Prepare and file VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory tax returns accurately and on time.
  • Generate financial reports for management and prepare invoices related to guest bookings.
  • Enforce internal controls and financial SOPs; support audit preparation and maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior accounting colleague and related finance functions to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring timely submission of schedules and responses.
     

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in accounting, preferably within the hospitality or luxury hotel industry.
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent English language proficiency (oral and written).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate the accounting team effectively.
  • Proven experience in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and internal control procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and management to support financial goals.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation, financial reporting, and asset safeguarding.
