Chargeman B0 (Kuala Lumpur)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of the facility’s electrical systems, with primary responsibility for the 11 kV installation and associated LV distribution systems, to ensure safe and uninterrupted operation.
• Act as the designated electrical Competent Person within the scope of the B0 competency and ensure that the installation is operated and maintained in accordance with applicable Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements, the Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994 and approved safe operating procedures.
• Carry out and/or control electrical switching, isolation, shutdown and restoration activities for 11 kV and LV systems, including implementation of Permit-to-Work, Lock-Out/Tag-Out and other electrical safety requirements before work commences.
• Conduct routine inspections and condition monitoring of 11 kV switchgear, transformers, protection systems, LV switchboards, generators, ATS, UPS and other related electrical assets; record operating parameters, abnormalities and corrective actions in the required logbooks and maintenance records.
• Coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities, planned shutdowns, testing and statutory inspections with the site team, contractors and service providers to achieve equipment reliability and agreed SLAs/KPIs.
• Respond promptly to electrical faults, trips, power interruptions and emergencies; perform first-line troubleshooting, isolate unsafe equipment, coordinate recovery of supply and support incident investigation/root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Supervise electrical contractors and vendors working on the installation, ensuring personnel competency, approved method statements, risk assessments, permits, test instruments and safe work practices are in place before and during execution.
• Maintain up-to-date electrical documentation including single-line diagrams, switching records, test reports, certificates, maintenance records, statutory registers and compliance documents, and escalate any lapse, defect or non-compliance to the superior.
• Monitor electrical loading, demand, power quality and energy performance, identify abnormal trends or improvement opportunities, and support initiatives to optimize electrical efficiency without compromising safety or business continuity.
• Conduct regular inspections/audits of electrical rooms and installations, maintain good housekeeping and access control, and ensure all safety devices, signage, PPE, fire protection and emergency equipment are available and serviceable.

REQUIREMENTS

• Possess a valid Chargeman B0 (11 kV) Certificate of Competency issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia and maintain the required competent-person registration/authorization for the installation.
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in electrical operation and maintenance, preferably in commercial, high-rise, critical-facility or integrated facilities management environments, with practical exposure to 11 kV systems.
• Strong working knowledge of 11 kV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, LV distribution, standby generators, ATS, UPS, electrical fault troubleshooting and safe switching practices.
• Good knowledge of the Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements, electrical safety procedures, first aid/resuscitation for electrical shock and applicable occupational safety requirements.
• Able to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics and technical manuals; disciplined in documentation, analytical in troubleshooting, able to communicate effectively, and willing to work shifts/on-call when required.
• Remark: The contract tenure is one (1) year. Renewable contract subject to management approval.
