This role is part of the Marketing & Corporate Affairs (MCA) team, committed to drive CBA's brand and reputation, working closely with the business to deliver insight-led creativity to engage our customers, communities and broader stakeholders. Consumer Marketing is a Centre of Excellence (CoE) within the Marketing and Corporate Affairs function at CommBank and the Planning and Go-to-Marketing team works across the Consumer Marketing team.

The Planning and Go-to-Market team prioritises and delivers the combined strategic agenda of Consumer Marketing, Marketing and Corporate Affairs and the Retail Bank. It partners closely with other CommBank Marketing CoEs including Brand & Creative, Business & Institutional Marketing, Media and Customer Insights and Research. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a team that designs and delivers work that supports the Consumer Marketing strategy through operational improvement or strategic insight.

  • Drive a culture that ensures we proactively identify and mitigate risk to achieve the right outcomes.

  • Operationalise and optimise processes (e.g. marketing complaints) that enables us to deliver actionable insight to improve customer outcomes.

  • Drive and deliver the Consumer Marketing prioritisation and planning through AGILE principles.

  • Deliver transformation in our go-to-market approach to achieve operational efficiency and better outcomes.

  • Partner with and influence business functions such as strategy, operations, finance, data and insights across both MCA and retail to achieve shared goals.

  • Ensure Consumer Marketing continues to achieve an engagement score that attracts and retains leading talent.

  • Take an enterprise approach and positively impact Marketing and Corporate affairs more broadly through collaboration and sharing best practice.

  • Produce executive-level strategic recommendations and supporting artefacts by conducting research and collaborating with core stakeholders.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to your Executive Manager cohort through cross functional planning/prioritisation and leadership team forums.

  • Support senior executives on strategic projects.

  • Provide strategic guidance to a team delivering a capability program that will empower and upskill the Consumer Marketing Team.

  • Collaborate with and influence senior leaders across the bank. 

  • Navigate a complex, matrix organisation dynamic to drive best outcomes with an Enterprise mindset.

  • Extensive experience in a similar strategic and operational capacity within a marketing function

  • Strong judgement and perspective that enable them to navigate complexity and deliver risk managed and optimised outcomes.

  • A self-authored mindset enabling autonomous decision making.

  • A curious mind that constantly seeks to solve problems for the benefit of others – including our team, business stakeholders and our customers.

  • The ability to get into the detail whilst also being able to continue to see the bigger picture.

  • Strong relationship building skills and can work confidently across a range of CBA functions to support Marketing in strategic projects.

  • A passion for learning, development and building a team with an outstanding culture.

  • Strong strategy and project management skills.

  • Analytical and strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate complexity in an accessible way.

  • Commercial and financial acumen with the ability to track and optimise budgets and demonstrate ROI/ROMI.

  • Financial services background is highly advantageous.
