Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR), the CFR Grants Manager is a key member of the fundraising team, responsible for managing the philanthropic grants process, from researching and identifying philanthropic grant opportunities that align with JAX’s mission and strategic goals, to ensuring timely reporting and stewardship of grants. This position requires a combination of strategic and entrepreneurial thinking, keen attention to detail, and an understanding of grant prospecting.

What you’re good at

  • Working closely with the Director of CFR, identify and research prospective philanthropic grantmaking organizations (PGOs), assessing their capacity and inclination to give, and develop targeted cultivation plans.
  • Lead CFR grants program management, from planning to application to approval and utilization.
  • Manage CFR pipeline and portfolio, working closely with Prospect Research to screen prospects and update records in database.
  • Working closely with investigators and the Office of Sponsored Research Administration, draft and submit timely and high-quality grant reports according to grant agreement requirements.
  • Utilize fundraising software and databases to track donor interactions, manage prospect pipelines, and generate reports on fundraising performance.
  • Project manage occasional CFR engagement events in partnership with Special Events Manager to drive pipeline development and develop new funder leads.
  • Utilizing project management software, organize and update CFR operational tasks.
  • Working across departments, write persuasive impact stories.
  • Working closely with investigators and RPD, draft and edit occasional CFR vision documents using brand-approved templates.
  • Develop, plan, and implement funder visits and exploratory visits, to include agenda and itinerary creation, coordination and prepping of faculty, notetaking, and follow-up.

What you contribute

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Life Sciences, or related field and at least 3 years of relevant grant management experience is required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to work behind-the-scenes, focusing on both pipeline development and project management specific to philanthropic grantmaking organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a sense of entrepreneurialism.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Strong understanding of project management and coordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and funding priorities in a compelling manner.
  • Preference for proven track record of successful grant management.
  • Preference for previous experience working within an academic or scientific organization. Science degree a plus.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with team members.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies.
  • Familiarity with grant management systems and databases for tracking proposals, grants, and reporting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and growing organization.
  • Understanding of the broader fundraising landscape and how corporate and foundation relationships integrate with individual giving, major gifts, and other fundraising strategies.

The salary range is $63,744 - $106,723. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
