The Role:

Ceramist I / Ceramic Engineer I is an Early-Career role supporting aerospace investment casting manufacturing and the multiple uses of ceramic materials and components across the production process.  The primary use of ceramics in investment casting is in building molds by repeatedly dipping the wax assembly of the geometry to be cast into various combinations and sequences of ceramic slurries and applying various grades of stucco. 

  • Ownership and Responsibility of the Manufacturing Process from Mold Building, Dewax, Mold Firing and Preparation for Casting
  • Identification & Control of Key Process Variables
  • Investigation & Process Optimization
  • Operation, Automation, Program & Recipe Creation
  • Partner with Operations to Understand Processes and Relationships to Testing and Verifications
  • Perform Role in Accordance with Safety Requirements & Guidelines

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramics Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering (or Equivalent Curriculum) or Equivalent Professional Experience
  • Strong Analytical Skills to Evaluate Complex Datasets Involved in Material Formulations and Statistical Process Control
  • Wide-Ranging Verbal and Written Communication Talents to Effectively Discuss Complex Technical Data in Engineering Settings, While Defining Reaction Plans, Standard Work and Step-by-Step Instructions for Operations
  • Robot Programming Experience and Ability Preferred, or Ability to Learn Programming
  • Basic knowledge of the Investment Casting Process (and Especially Nickel-Based Superalloys) is Preferred but not Required

Skills Required
