Centre Manager, Queensland Emory Vaccine Centre (QEVC)

• Queensland Emory Vaccine Centre (QEVC) supported by UQ’s DVCRI, the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN).
• Full-time (100%), fixed term position for up to 5 years.
• Base salary will be in the range $140,766.62 - $148,862.37 + 17% super (HEW Level 9).
• Based at our vibrant and picturesque St Lucia Campus.

The Queensland Emory Vaccine Centre (QEVC) is a strategic partnership between The University of Queensland and Emory University, established to accelerate the discovery and development of vaccines and immunotherapeutics for globally significant diseases.

The QEVC is part of an ecosystem of National Critical Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS)and UQ Collaborative Research Platform (CRP) capabilities which provide specialised services, technologies and expertise to support vaccine development.

The Centre Manager plays a central leadership and coordination role in supporting the QEVC Co-Directors, the QEVC Steering Committee, the NCRIS/CRP Director and users, and also oversees the delivery of the UQ’s external partnership milestones and deliverables.

You will be responsible for the effective management of business and administrative operations, ensuring that governance, financial management, infrastructure operations, project delivery and stakeholder engagement are aligned to strategic objectives and delivered in a coordinated, compliant and sustainable manner.

You will work closely with the QEVC Co-Directors, NCRIS/CRP management, QEVC Steering Committee and key internal and external stakeholders to support high-performing, integrated research environments. You will also support the embedded NCRIS/CRP as an open-access research infrastructure platform aligned with Queensland Government expectations, enabling access to infrastructure, capabilities and services for Queensland’s vaccine development ecosystem

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Lead the effective management of QEVC business and administrative operations, including governance, financial planning, workforce coordination, infrastructure administration and operational compliance.
• Support the QEVC Co-Directors, Steering Committee and NCRIS/Collaborative Research Platform leadership by providing high-quality operational advice, briefings, reports and decision support.
• Build collaborative relationships across UQ, Emory University, government, research groups, platform users, funding bodies, external partners and professional services teams.
• Lead strategic and operational planning, project delivery and the continuous improvement of systems and procedures, including processes relating to intellectual property, onboarding, risk, governance and compliance.

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable administrator with strong experience in research centre operations, research infrastructure administration, governance, financial management and stakeholder coordination.

You will bring extensive experience in research centre operations, research administration, or complex organisational management, supported by postgraduate qualifications or an equivalent combination of experience and expertise.

You have a proven track record in operational, financial, resource and project management, driving continuous improvement through effective systems, processes and governance frameworks. A collaborative and influential leader, you excel at building strong stakeholder relationships, leading high-performing teams, and delivering results in fast-paced environments with competing priorities.

Your exceptional communication skills, commercial acumen, and advanced digital capability enable you to support strategic objectives and operational excellence within a research-intensive environment. Experience within the higher education sector, particularly supporting research infrastructure, collaborative research initiatives, or externally funded programs, would be highly regarded.
