Centralized Research Group (CRG) - Associate

The Centralized Research Group (CRG) is part of CIB R&A covering Banking globally. It works closely with the firm’s Investment Banking (IB), Commercial Banking (CB) and Global Corporate Banking (GCB) teams offering customized financial solutions across Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity / Debt capital raising, Credit, Treasury, Cash Management, Trade, and Markets, among others.

 

Functional Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities will include:

• Industry or Product coverage: Build deep expertise and insight on industry, impact of economic / market conditions, competitive landscape, risks, trends, etc. that can be leveraged by bankers for maintaining and initiating new client relationships and generate high quality reports suggesting possible courses of action. Cover sector(s) and track developments regularly. Summarize and synthesize news updates / research reports on priority clients, regular industry reports. Work with bankers to understand clients’ needs and provide appropriate product solutions

• Identifying opportunities: Track a select list of priority clients and work together with the senior bankers to evaluate potential deal opportunities across the entire range of solutions and services offered

• Pitching material preparation: Work with bankers to prepare marketing materials for clients including components like market and industry landscapes, treasury relationship reviews / client health checks, opportunity memos, financial analysis & benchmarking, target companies’ / investors’ profiles, market information, etc. Produce client-ready output which is crisp and relevant and is accompanied with well-structured presentations

• Research & Financial analysis: Analysis and interpretation of financial statements including preparing comparables, modeling & valuations, working capital analysis, benchmarking, etc. Work on extensive valuations without any guidance and be comfortable with valuation techniques. Understand transaction structures and be able to determine applicability to the clients. Calculate and draw insights from a set of financial measures / models

• Project Management: Comprehend projects with a high level of accuracy & display a strong end-to-end understanding of the deliverables. Engage proactively with bankers to understand client perspective and make new suggestions regarding analysis, slides or provide a new perspective. Work with senior management on various CRG-wide initiatives like hiring, training, knowledge development, etc.

• Automation / Efficiency Initiatives: Identify automation opportunities to eliminate manual and recurring tasks, simplify complicated tasks and increase overall efficiency. Use basic knowledge of coding to come up and communicate ideas on transforming a business process digitally

• Communication: Maintain regular value-added contact with bankers and staffers in the appropriate geography both proactively and in response to specific requests with a clear distinction between fact, informed opinion and uninformed opinion (hunch). Engage and communicate effectively with managers to keep them informed of activity in the region

• Team Management: Review priorities & manage team expectations proactively; manage and monitor workload to ensure that all internal/external deadlines are met; become a mentor for the juniors in the team and help them develop the right skill sets by reviewing their work; provide clear guidance to the team to maximize efficiency 

• Compliance: Ensure the highest international ethical standards and regulatory compliance within the team

   

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

• At least 4 years of work experience from top Tier school / or professional qualification in Accountancy / Finance

• Self-starter with excellent academic record; self-motivated, quick learner, comfortable with responsibility

• Strong financial and analytical skill set; strong knowledge of corporate valuation & modelling

• Good awareness of Investment Banking / Commercial Banking / Corporate Banking solutions and services is a plus

• Good communication skills, adaptable to effectively partner with various stakeholders across the globe, strong at building relationships across teams

• Proactive with strong attention to detail and ability to deliver output of a very high standard

• Excellent organization, planning and time management skills - Able to multi task, deliver results and meet deadlines under pressure

• Strong written and presentation skills with expert handling of excel & powerpoint

• Good team player with an analytical bent of mind

• People management experiences is required
