Objective: The CS will create schedules and fill the schedules companywide.  Will coordinate day to day with Operations in the process of filing open shifts or reductions in force to meet resource/demand targets.  Will maintain communication and positive working relationship with all staff to facilitate a safe and efficient operation regarding staffing.  Will perform other duties as assigned by the Central Scheduling Supervisor and other Operations leaders.

Essential Duties:

  • Know and support the Mission Statement, Policy/Procedures and standards of MMR.
  • Coordinates day to day with Operations in the process of filing open shifts or reductions in force to meet resource/demand targets.
  • Maintains communication and positive working relationship with all staff to facilitate a safe and efficient operation.
  • Prepare schedules for divisions and create schedule templates for all divisions.
  • Add special events to the schedule.
  • Manage time off requests and shift trades for road staff.
  • Schedule staff for required education, employee development programs and specialty courses.
  • Print QA reports as they relate to employees, medical control authorities, and MMR.
  • Respect and hold in confidence, all information of a sensitive or confidential natures obtained in the course of professional work unless required by law to divulge such information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver license and maintain an acceptable driving record as defined by MMR’s insurance carrier
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Advanced computer skills including the ability to utilize a computer PC with Windows operating system
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including but not limited to, copier, fax machine, scanner, monitor, multi-line telephone, printer, typewriter and calculator
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Skilled in typing, data entry, electronic filing and document retrieval
  • Vehicle Dealer Training for the State of Michigan preferred
  • Must be well versed in secretarial skills, including grammar, spelling and telephone etiquette
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills. Detail-oriented
  • After training period must have a firm basic knowledge of ambulance operations and staff development
  • Comprehension skills to read correspondence and material for filing. Material includes technical EMS material, medical terminology, memos and manuals
  • Possess skills to write simple correspondence or reports with minimal direction
  • Experience with personal computers, data entry, spreadsheets and word processing
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in the English language
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with others
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice
  • Ability to prepare and run basic reports from various database formats
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Physical Factors: Suitable dexterity to operate standard office equipment. Capability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Required activities: reaching, bending, stooping, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity. Capable of sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  

Working Conditions: Most work is done in a typical office setting, but with daily exposure to all other department areas. Inside generally 100%; however, may include outside work on occasion.
