Description of Work

The position is located in the Central Registry/State Parent Locate Unit of the Child Support Program Central Office in Raleigh. The Central Registry/State Parent Locate Unit is a high-volume unit receiving requests for services for intergovernmental and locate cases from other states, US territories, and other countries. This position is assigned to the State Parent Locate Service unit. The unit refers cases to the Federal Parent Locator Service to obtain records on non-custodial parents from various locate databases. Records are also obtained from the various state agencies to assist in location efforts.
The primary purpose of this position is to locate non-custodial parents through evaluation of information received on records obtained from the various states, internet resources, and state and federal databases. This position also helps the state, local staff, other states, and other NC DCSS departments in locating non-custodial parents for the establishment and /or enforcement of child support orders. The employee uses multiple state, federal and vendor-provided databases as well as internet resources to perform the job functions and must be able to determine which source is to be used and what information will be received from the source. This position researches and responds to case status requests from other states, countries, U.S. territories, and in-state caseworkers. To meet unit coverage, employee duties are cross-trained.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $41,206 - $72,113

This position has a maximum budget of $41,206

This position is funded in part through federal funds.
