The Role
Company Description

“Designing and delivering highways in regional Queensland isn’t just engineering — it’s shaping the future of our communities, connecting people, saving lives, and unlocking opportunities across the state.”  Michael Arri - Area Manager - North Queensland & Northern Territory

Come grow with us.

AECOM is continuing to grow our Transport and Infrastructure team across Australia and New Zealand and we’re seeking experienced Senior Project Managers/Design Managers with a strong background in transport and highways detailed design to support our expanding pipeline of major infrastructure work.

These opportunities may particularly appeal to professionals who are considering a move to Central or North Queensland, whether permanently or for a period of time. For those looking to step away from the hustle and bustle of city life, this could be a chance to enjoy a different pace while still delivering challenging infrastructure projects. Equally, the roles may suit someone interested in relocating for a year or two to support key project delivery, before returning to a larger metro environment.

This opportunity is well suited to experienced professionals who enjoy owning and delivering packages of work, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across ANZ and acting as the key interface with clients at a local level.

Everyone belongs at AECOM

We’re committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging - because great ideas come from diverse perspectives. Job Description

We currently have multiple opportunities across regional Queensland, particularly in Rockhampton and Mackay, with potential opportunities in Townsville and Cairns as our pipeline continues to grow.

These roles will play a key part in strengthening our leadership capability in the region, particularly where we are continuing to build out our senior technical and project delivery presence.

How you’ll make a difference

  • Lead and deliver transport infrastructure projects, particularly across highways and road design, ensuring high quality outcomes across detailed design phases.
  • Own and manage packages of work, taking accountability for scope, programme, technical delivery and client outcomes.
  • Coordinate with AECOM teams across ANZ, leveraging our national design capability to successfully deliver complex infrastructure projects.
  • Act as the local client interface, building trusted relationships with government and infrastructure clients.
  • Manage project delivery end-to-end, including design management, resourcing, programme management and technical coordination.
  • Provide technical leadership in transport and highway design, ensuring alignment with relevant standards and best practice.
  • Support the growth of AECOM’s regional transport capability, helping strengthen delivery teams and mentor developing engineers.
