Job Description:

We are seeking a part-time Cell Culture Intern to start December 16th, 2024 onsite at our Menlo Park HQ for a one-year paid internship. This person will play a critical role in the operation of our Cell Biology team. The ideal candidate for this role should possess hands-on experience in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory environment and be familiar with performing cell culture with multiple different mammalian cell lines. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail and organizational skills and ability to follow protocols and guidelines to enable a successful workflow of screening compounds with cell-based assays.  

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cell culture (thaw, seed, expand and cryopreserve mammalian cell lines)
  • Maintain multiple cell lines at once 
  • Manage cell culture workflow for large scale high throughput screening assays 
  • Support cell culture related duties (order reagents, prepare media, track inventory of cell lines and other reagents, assist with protocols and SOPs)
  • Receive shipments and organize documentation
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area and accurate lab notebook
  • Follow standard operating procedures and clearly communicate with the team

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and sterile technique
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment
  • Familiarity with both manual and automated workflow for cell culture is a plus

This is a non-exempt, 1-year internship for up to 20 hours per week. Onsite attendance in Menlo Park, California is required. The pay range for this intern position is $22 - $29 per hour.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
