What You'll Do:

Summary
Performs responsible technical work in the enforcement of the City's Minimum Housing Code and rehabilitation assistance programs; performs related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Asst. CD Director.

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:

Essential Tasks

  • Inspects, photographs and re-inspects buildings for environmental and structural safety violations relating to windows, doors, walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, sanitary plumbing, water and mechanical systems, lighting and electrical systems, etc.;
  • Notifies and confers with individual property owners relevant to violations and required repairs;
  • Prepares floor plans, specifications and estimates of rehabilitation and repair costs;
  • Solicits contractor bids, reviews and awards bids;
  • Inspects work in progress, prepares change orders if necessary and recommends approval of payments;
  • Conducts follow-up and final inspections;
  • Issues certificates of completion and compliance;
  • Completes project environmental reviews and/or assessments;
  • Collects and monitors projects for Davis-Bacon compliance;
  • Enters project data into LOANS, Neighborly, or other software systems as required;
  • Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.

Qualifications:

Preferred Skills

  • A high degree of initiative, with the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated experience meeting and exceeding goals in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Knowledge of recruitment methodology to implement marketing and outreach strategies and evaluate their effectiveness to attract a wide variety of applicants from entry to executive level.
  • Knowledge in all full lifecycle recruiting components such as diverse talent sourcing, assessing, applicant tracking, closing offer processes and relationship management.
  • Strong focus on customer service with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Proficient with Neighborly or other industry standard applicant-tracking software.
The work location of this job will be 211 S Hamilton St High Point, North Carolina.
