Job Summary:
This position is located in West Memphis, TN - As an CCT M&R Tech, you will maintain and repair intermodal equipment ( CCT- containers, chassis and trailers) in order to meet the equipment demands of our customers in accordance with the core values of the company and in a way that he/she achieves the established goals for operational performance and safety while building customer loyalty. This position is required to be on-site daily in the West Memphis, TN Yard location.
Summary:
This person's objective is to maintain and repair intermodal equipment ( CCT- containers, chassis and trailers) in order to meet the equipment demands of our customers in accordance with the core values of the company and in a way that he/she achieves the established goals for operational performance and safety while building customer loyalty.
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to perform all repairs listed on the FHWA ( Federal Highway Administration)
- Inspect equipment to determine best work plan procedure
- Removes, replaces or rebuilds damaged or malfunctioning parts
- Understands and repairs electrical systems, air systems, brakes, tires, etc.
- Perform welding and riveting
- Helps unload/unpack tires and parts maintains organization of inventory
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment that complies with environmental - -guidelines and policies. -Ensures repairs are completed according to customer's established criteria -Works with auditors to determine amount and type of repairs needed
Accountabilities:
- Repairs are completed correctly and economically as assigned
- Completed work on equipment meets or exceeds safety compliance
- Documents all repairs work orders
- Meets established productivity measures
- Reports any irregularities to management
- Keeps the shop/ yard area and company vehicles and assets in clean and orderly -conditions
- Works well with other mechanics to perform as a team -Perform other duties as assigned
Competencies and Requirements :
- Ability to lift over 50lbs
- Owns complete set of tools
- Ability and Knowledge to use power or pneumatic tools
- Work in adverse weather conditions - Performs work independently - Problems solving and diagnostics skills - Ability and agility to work in all areas of shop/ yard
Though not all encompassing, below is a list of required and recommended tools to perform the functions of the role;
Hand tools
- Ratchet and socket set: A set with both metric and SAE sizes is essential for handling various nuts and bolts.
- Combination wrenches: Get a set in both metric and SAE sizes.
- Pliers: A set including needle-nose, slip-joint
- Screwdrivers: A set with both Phillips and flathead bits is a must.
- Allen wrenches: A set in both metric and SAE sizes for hexagonal fasteners.
- Pry bar: A medium-length pry bar is a good starting point for leverage.
- Vice grips: Also known as locking pliers, these are useful for many tasks, like holding parts in place.
- Hammer: A ball peen hammer, dead blow hammer, mallet
- Hook and pick set: Useful for pulling O-rings, disconnecting small hoses, and cleaning hard-to-reach areas.
- Wire brush: A small one is helpful for cleaning terminals and other parts.
Safety and troubleshooting tools
- Mechanic's gloves: To protect your hands.
- Digital multimeter: For diagnosing electrical issues.
- Telescoping magnet: Indispensable for retrieving dropped nuts, bolts, and other small metal parts in hard-to-reach places.
- Magnetic parts tray: Keeps small parts from getting lost.
Optional but useful tools
- Breaker bar: For extra leverage when a standard ratchet isn't enough to loosen a stubborn nut.
- Impact driver: A powerful tool for driving screws and bolts.
- Cordless drill: Useful for drilling holes and driving fasteners.
