Job Description:
The Category Manager is a highly collaborative position on the Gift Card Ecommerce team, working closely with buying, merchandising, operations, and technology to shape and execute our strategy for optimizing Workhuman’s extensive gift card catalogue.
In this role, you will build and nurture relationships with top-tier gift card suppliers and merchants to maintain a relevant, engaging, and competitively priced catalogue, while coordinating cross-functional teams to enhance and strengthen the store offering.

Key Responsibilities
- You will build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration and ensuring commercially beneficial partnerships.
- You will define, execute, and continuously refine category strategies that support business objectives and drive commercial growth.
- You will implement competitive pricing strategies in partnership with suppliers to optimize margin, category share, and customer value.
- You will lead media planning with suppliers, pitching and negotiating marketing opportunities and ensuring campaigns are executed effectively.
- You will leverage analytics, market insights, and business data to optimize assortment and support strategic, data-driven decision-making.
- You will remain current on market trends, consumer behaviour, and category developments, applying this expertise to shape strategy and guide business decisions.
- You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of key business initiatives.
Knowledge/Experience
- 5+ years experience in supplier management, or strategy management in ecommerce, retail, or a marketplace environment.
- Proven experience in category management, merchandising, or a related field, ideally within ecommerce, retail, or consumer goods.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute category or business strategies that drive measurable results.
- Extensive understanding of margin, pricing levers, category economics, and growth drivers.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, including negotiations, performance management, and partnership planning.
- Strong background in price negotiations, margin management, and commercial decision-making.
- Resourceful and proactive in identifying challenges, generating solutions, and driving outcomes.

- Ability to translate data, insights, and market understanding into actionable strategies.
- Strong capability to interpret data, evaluate performance, and make informed commercial decisions.
- Skilled in negotiating pricing, and marketing opportunities while influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
- Able to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, business needs, and market conditions.
- High attention to detail while maintaining a broader strategic view.
