Job purpose:
As a Category Manager (CM) Retail is in the driver seat of category growth driving initiatives. The development and execution of all category management strategies and tactics within the framework of the Global and CEU Strategies and aligned within the midterm growth plans are the core of this role for the assigned range of customers within Retail Germany.
CM is allocated within the CM & TM department / Sales and has a strong link to KAMs, Sales Force and Marketing. The common objective together with all disciplines is to grow market share and profitability of the category (Frozen Potatoes & Appetizers) and the brand value among its trade partners and consumers.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market knowledge
  • Shopper expert, identifying consumer trends in all channels (hyper- and supermarkets, proxi stores, E-commerce)
  • Strong trade knowledge, its strategies, and priorities in RT Germany (former KAM or marketing experience helpful)
  • Analysis of the category performance including competition based on sell-out date and consumer panels


  1. Value Creation
  • Foster strong relationship and collaboration ship with key accounts (customers)
  • Optimize the category profitability by working on the Product/Customer/Channels Mix
  • Roll-out the category strategy (Demand Spaces) into applicable planogram for customers.
  • Working on visibility and space of brand and category
  • Supporting the whole process of launching new products from target setting, analyzing customer potential and follow-up plans.


  1. Reporting activities
  • Monitors the performance of national customers through regular assessment of activities and reports, management the relative information and the required action plans.


About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in category management, merchandising, or retail management, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and insights to drive business decisions.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, ideally PowerBi and data analytics tools as well as retail data pools and tools like Circana, GfK, Simit, etc
  • Knowledge of food industry trends, regulations, and consumer preferences is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills, with a proven track record of building successful partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • German native language or excellence level
