What We're Looking For 

As Category Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, and execution of indirect product costs and categories. Your main objective is to negotiate competitive cost structures, thus enabling beneficial cost of goods sold to Wis-Pak’s Shareholders and its customers.  

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Develop the category operating plan with guidance and insight from Director of Procurement and support the annual budgeting process for indirect spend categories 
  • Execution and negotiation of supplier bid processes (RFP, RFQ, RFI) 
  • Responsible for owning supplier contract compliance of fully executed agreements. 
  • Ensure direct reports are actively monitoring supplier performance 
  • Create and deliver category strategies through their own actions and the actions of any direct reports 
  • Monitor cost savings targets to ensure targets are achieved 
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align on company priorities and needs 
  • Provide guidance and insight on supplier selection criteria by assessing what is most valued in a key category supplier relationship 
  • Review or Approve Contracts for Products and Services to be signed at an appropriate level within the organization within policy guidelines for authorized signatories 
  • Complete daily approvals in JDE for indirect purchase orders 
  • Develop exit and/or transition supply strategies as required 
  • Develop business solutions assigned; areas of opportunities include development of scorecards for major indirect suppliers, explore MRO integrators,

You’ll Bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, finance, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in sourcing, contracts, category management, financial and data analysis, or equivalent 
  • Microsoft Office suite proficiency required 
  • JD Edwards ERP experience preferred 
  • Power BI experience preferred 
  • ASCM or other Supply Chain certifications preferred 
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred 
  • Up to 10% travel required 
  • Team player, self-starter, positive attitude, strong work ethic 
  • Effective communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment, and willingness to take on new responsibilities as needed

What We Do

Wis-Pak was founded in 1969 to provide a centralized supply of canned soft drink products to its owners. A building was constructed in Watertown, Wisconsin, and equipped with a can line. Production began in 1970.

Wis-Pak has since become one of the largest and most successful cooperative companies in the soft drink industry. Wis-Pak is owned by 37 Shareholders, representing 65 Pepsi-Cola franchises. Their franchises cover parts of Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. The wholly-owned subsidiaries include eight filling plants, a transportation company, a bottled water company, and a company for centralized administration.

In 2004, Wis-Pak formed a majority-owned subsidiary, WP Beverages, LLC, to purchase the Pepsi-Cola franchise operations of Madison, Wisconsin and Rockford, Illinois. Additional franchises acquired by WP Beverages include Iron Mountain, MI (2006), Mitchell, SD (2008), Park Falls, WI (2017), Rock Island, IL (2018), and Green Bay, WI (2019).
