Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop, plan, and implement procurement strategy focused on optimizing costs, quality, delivery, and reliability of suppliers and supplied products for an assigned category or group of categories. Each day, you will ensure execution in accordance with company, procurement, and supply base management instructions and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by recommending frame agreements to management and executing upon approval.
The work model for the role is: onsite
This role is contributing to the EL Smart Power in Jiangmen / Xiamen.
You will be mainly accountable for:
  • 1. Category Strategy & Management
    - Develop and execute Hub Asia procurement strategies for the Electromechanical category, aligning with global category goals to ensure supply stability, cost competitiveness, and compliance with company standards.
    - Manage the Electromechanical Category (Motor/Solenoid/Current transformer/Terminal/Electronic Plugs, etc.), including contract management, supplier sourcing, and category performance tracking.
    - Act as the regional expert, providing professional advice to the global category manager on strategy formulation and optimization, and collaborate with ABB Europe procurement teams to implement global strategies in China and India.
  • 2. Team Leadership & Development
    - Lead and mentor Hub Asia Electromechanical category team, set clear performance objectives, and foster a collaborative team culture to drive excellence.
    - Conduct regular team performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and implement training programs to enhance the team’s procurement and negotiation capabilities.
  • 3. Supplier Management & Negotiation
    - Identify, evaluate, and onboard high-quality suppliers for the Electromechanical category; establish and maintain strategic long-term partnerships with key suppliers.
    - Lead complex commercial negotiations (price, payment terms, delivery schedules, quality agreements) to achieve significant cost reduction targets while ensuring product quality and supply reliability.
    - Participate in contract negotiations with global suppliers alongside the global category manager, and lead negotiations with local suppliers.
  • 4. Cross-Regional & Cross-Functional Collaboration
    - Serve as the contact person between Hub Asia procurement teams and global category managers, ensuring alignment of sourcing strategies, supplier standards, and cost initiatives.
    - Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, and Engineering teams to understand new product development requirements, provide procurement insights during the design phase, and drive supplier involvement in value engineering projects to meet ABB’s quality standards and project timelines.
    - Stay familiar with global and Chinese electromechanical (Motor/Solenoid/Current transformer/Terminal/Electronic Plugs, etc.),  market trends, and provide early input into new product development to support supplier selection with better lead times and pricing.
    - Close cooperation with purchasing team to support capacity planning and scalability / flexibility planning and work with Quality to improve supplier performance (OTD, DPPM, lead time etc.) 
  • 5. Cost Optimization & Contract Management
    - Implement cost optimization initiatives (e.g., value analysis, bulk purchasing, supplier consolidation) to achieve continuous cost reduction for the electrification category.
    - Draft, review, and manage comprehensive procurement contracts; adapt the corporate contractual framework to local business needs, and provide ongoing oversight of supplier contract compliance.
    - Manage procurement planning, tracking, and budget adherence, minimizing quality and financial exposure through compliance with quality and commercial procedures.
  • 6. Performance Tracking & Reporting
    - Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including cost savings rate, Supplier sustainable development indicators, supplier on-time delivery rate, quality compliance rate; prepare regular reports for global and regional leadership teams.
    ◦ Contribute to setting and implementing budgets and targets within the framework, ensuring responsible category sourcing performance targets are achieved

Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, Supply Chain Management, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or related majors preferred
  • Min. 5 years of category procurement & supply chain management experience, must have team leadership experience
  • Proven capability in supply chain optimization and breakthrough improvement, with measurable efficiency/cost reduction track record
  • Strong performance-oriented mindset; skilled in team KPI setting, performance management and driving team to achieve business targets 
  • Excellent knowledge in sourcing methods; supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, analytical skills and legal/contractual knowledge
  • Excellent internal & external coordination and project promotion capabilities, able to break cross-departmental barriers 
  • Fluent English (listening, speaking, reading and writing) as working language; excellent cross-regional communication & negotiation skills
  • Solid technical background, especially good knowledge in mechanical engineering, is preferred
  • Strong data processing (e.g Power BI) and report ability are preferred
