About the team and the role:
Join our dynamic team as a Category Manager Collectibles, where passion meets purpose in a vibrant and results-driven environment. Our team thrives on a culture of fun and engagement, fostering a workspace that not only encourages creativity but also emphasizes hands-on execution. As a Category Manager within eBay's Collectibles team, you will strategize and be responsible for the growth of one or multiple categories, collaborating with key sellers, brands and strategic partners, while managing the P&L and contributing to broad cross-functional and cross-category initiatives
What you will accomplish:
- Define and execute a long-term vision for the category that aligns with company goals, ensuring a robust and competitive market position that drives balanced growth
- Cultivate and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with sellers, acting as their primary point of contact and trusted advisor to develop and implement growth strategies and cultivate long-term collaboration
- Supervise and analyze seller performance metrics to provide targeted feedback and actionable insights, helping sellers optimize their listings, pricing, and customer service to improve sales and customer happiness
- Continuously analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and potential risks, translating insights into actionable strategies that improve category performance
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, finance and product to ensure cohesive execution of category strategies, driving interdepartmental alignment that improves category success and overall business impact
- Set and achieve bold Gross Merchandise Volume targets, monitoring performance metrics closely and adjusting strategies as vital to deliver on financial expectations
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related fields and 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an e-commerce or retail environment
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to cultivate and maintain productive relationships with sellers and internal team member
- Proficiency in analyzing complex data, understanding market research, and tracking consumer trend to make informed decisions and forecast category performance
- Excellent problem-solving skills to quickly identify issues, analyze challenges, and implement effective solutions to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities
- Proficiency in English and German
