WHAT YOU'LL DO

Data is more than stats to our Category Management Team – it is a story waiting to be told. Proactively mining data, they are on the hunt for sales opportunities and creating action through insights. Collaborating with our Key Account Sales Team, you will play a strategic role in building a strong partnership with our convenience retail accounts by providing consultative category guidance to deliver market-leading growth for Talking Rain’s portfolio of brands and categories. 

 

Reports to: Director, Category Management 

Direct Reports: N/A 

Location: Remote, Eastern or Central time preferred  

Annual Bonus Potential: 8% - Eligibility is based on the company hitting annual financial targets. 

Base Salary:$100,000 - $130,000 (depending on experience) 

Note: New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.  

 

  • Work effectively with Sales, Marketing, Insights, Product Teams, and other category leadership resources to execute category initiatives with excellence for Convenience Stores and Military channels.

  • Assist with category long-term planning and develop tools to diagnose new category opportunities. 

  • Support the creation and commercialization of category strategies, including shelving and assortment initiatives related to the achievement of sales objectives.   

  • Plan and execute planogram and assortment reviews for National Accounts with Key Account Sales Teams. 

  • Proactively monitor industry trends and competitive activity to identify opportunities to improve Talking Rain's advantage in the market. 

  • Through data visualization, build compelling sales presentations using syndicated, shopper and other sources of data that provide in-depth analysis and solutions that address current business issues. 

  • Creation of top-down, insights-driven national sell stories supporting overall business objectives for new and existing items. 

  • Independently manages and, at times, leads project plans and assumes responsibility for tracking, communication, and timing. 

  • Continuously and proactively focus on Category opportunity identification and gap closure. 

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned. 

WHAT YOU BRING 

  • 5-7 years of experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) with a focus on convenience channel category management, business analytics and/or shopper insights. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience. 

  • Extensive syndicated data knowledge (Circana/IRI, Nielsen, Power BI, retailer-specific point of sale, etc.). 

  • Strong experience with Stratum 84.51/dunnhumby/EYC/shopper loyalty card data platform highly preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency in space planning software (Apollo preferred). 

  • Strong analytical skills and experience aggregating internal and external data sources to build an influential selling story. 

  • Experience interacting with buyers and internal cross-functional partners. 

  • Ability to travel up to 20%, occasionally working evenings and weekends as needed for special assignments. 

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)

    • HQ Directors/VPs – Vehicle Stipend – This role qualifies for a vehicle stipend equaling $650/$800 monthly.

Please note, eligibility for our full benefits package is based on an average of 30+ hours per week in regular (not temporary) positions.
