The Role

As a Category Advisor, you will serve as part of the Value Analysis & Strategic Sourcing advisory services team, where you will pair your subject-matter expertise with evidence and customer data to formulate and deliver actionable recommendations for medical device use in health systems. You will develop a comprehensive perspective on Cardiovascular, IR and General Surgery device spend and utilization trends to advise health system leadership and physicians on opportunities to reduce unwarranted variation and unnecessary device cost.

The successful candidate will have deep expertise in Cardiovascular, IR and General Surgery device use, strategic sourcing strategies, and the US vendor landscape, share a passion for learning and understanding medical device technology, and be excited to use evidence-based solutions to transform healthcare. Additionally, a successful candidate will be a collaborative, energetic problem solver with a successful track record of leading medical device utilization and cost-reduction projects, with a focus on driving both business impact and stakeholder satisfaction.   

This is a part-time contract position with an expected commitment of 50 hours per month (10-12 hours weekly) from October 2024 – May 2025. 

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Be the go-to expert in health system Cardiovascular, IR and General Surgery device sourcing strategy
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of GHX’s research, evidence insights and recommendations.
  • Understand market dynamics and device trends in relevant service lines.
  • Combine quantitative analysis and subject-matter expertise to tailor and present savings strategies.
  • Engage with supply chain and clinician clients in informed discussions related to project scope & deliverables.
  • Manage multiple, concurrent client engagements to reduce cost and unwarranted variation.
  • As needed, serve as a liaison to GHX’s sales and marketing teams to represent client needs and team value.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years' experience at a healthcare provider, medical device manufacturer, or healthcare consultancy
  • Understanding of device sourcing strategies and vendor/device utilization and standardization initiatives 
  • Ability to analyze and interpret healthcare data to derive actionable insights.
  • Obsessed about impact; ability to quickly identify underlying drivers of problems and execute on path to solve.
  • Ability to effectively influence and present to senior hospital leaders and clinicals with minimal guidance.
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to demonstrate good judgment and diplomacy with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, adapts quickly and successfully manages ambiguity 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
