Category Administrator

As a category administrator (which you might call a merchandising analyst or buying administrator), you will support a category leader (senior buyer) in one of our exciting product areas—such as home theatre, computing, appliances, or tech accessories.
This entry-level role offers hands-on experience across product research, pricing and promotion, vendor coordination, and product lifecycle management - building a strong foundation for a career in retail category management at Best Buy!
We practice a remote-first working model. For this role, the successful candidate must be in the greater Vancouver, BC area, to attend vendor meetings, training, and team events regularly at our Canadian Headquarters in Vancouver.
What you’ll do as a category administrator:
- Support smooth product launches of the latest and greatest tech.
- Own the SKU setup process by collecting, validating, and entering complete product information from vendors.
- Execute pricing changes and data entry with a high level of accuracy. Getting the details right makes a real difference to our marketing and funding outcomes.
- Analyze trends and identify any potential issues early.
- Work cross‑functionally with the senior buyer, assistant buyer, and demand planner, and other internal partners to support the category strategy.

- A data driven individual who is detail oriented, organized, and dependable.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; Power BI experience is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to easily build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A strong interest in building a career in retail buying and merchandise management.
- Curiosity and an interest in technology.
- A business degree is preferred.
