Working as a hands-on contributor within our high-impact Catalogue Operations team and reporting to the Global Grocery & Retail Taxonomist, your core function will be to efficiently and accurately manage product data.Regular tasks:
Execute catalogue categorisations: Accurately apply our comprehensive grocery & retail product taxonomy to thousands of product lines supplied by our global grocery & retail partners, ensuring accuracy and identifying errors. For example, you must correctly identify data errors like a frozen pizza mistakenly placed in 'Fresh Food' and rectify them according to established guidelines.
Generate high-quality training data: Execute data labelling tasks with high precision to support the training and improvement of Deliveroo’s Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI (GenAI) models.
Maintain operational excellence: You will be a vital layer of quality control, ensuring the data integrity that powers customer browse and other customer-facing experiences across Deliveroo.
Required skills:
Exceptional common sense and logic: The ability to quickly and logically understand where a grocery or retail product belongs within a typical supermarket structure, ensuring high-quality, accurate categorisation in ambiguous situations.
Prior data labelling experience: Prior experience with high-volume data entry, data management, or quality assurance, ideally in an e-commerce, retail, or grocery environment.
High attention to detail: A commitment to impeccable accuracy and high standards when processing a large volume of data.
Process adherence and execution speed: Proven ability to follow processes precisely and efficiently, meeting high daily productivity targets.
Basic product knowledge: Solid, practical understanding of common food, beverage, and retail product categories sold in a typical supermarket setting.
Data proficiency: Strong practical experience with spreadsheet software like Google Sheets/Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, filters, basic formulas) to efficiently manage and clean data.
Language skills: Fluent in English and comfortable working with item information in other languages from Deliveroo’s markets (using internal tools/translation aids).
Nice to have
Prior experience with grocery-specific data labeling or taxonomy work.
Exposure to analytics tools e.g. Looker.
