The Challenge
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cash Application Specialist to join our finance team. This is an entry-level role, ideal for candidates with 1-2 years of overall experience in finance, AR, or billing. The role will focus on ensuring accurate and timely application of customer payments, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining transaction records.
Your Mission
You thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on accuracy and organization. You can prioritize tasks effectively and collaborate across teams to meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payment Processing: Apply daily customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards) to the correct accounts.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile daily receipts with bank statements and general ledger, resolving discrepancies.
- Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, working with AR and customer service teams.
- Record Maintenance: Keep accurate and updated records of all cash application transactions.
- Reporting: Prepare and distribute reports on cash application activities, including unapplied cash and adjustments.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to improvements in the cash application process.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with company policies and accounting standards.
- Collaboration: Work with finance team members to support month-end, and year-end closing, and audits.
You Are
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a related finance role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and experience with ERP systems (Workday preferred).
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Player: Able to work effectively independently and in a team.
