About the Role
The Cash Accountant will accurately and timely analyze and process daily and monthly transactions, in preparation of updating and recording into G/L. The role will also review work from other departments to determine appropriate coding and perform reconciliations on a variety of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts
- Review and evaluate various balance sheet and income statement accounts to determine whether the accounts are correctly stated and initiate any changes needed in the general ledger by posting the necessary journal entries
- Prepare reconciliations on various balance sheets and income statement accounts as assigned
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
- Work with Corporate Treasury team to insure all cash transactions are accurately recorded
- Monitor month-end closing procedures
- Review and post general journal entries prepared by accounting staff and others Search for new and improved ways of conducting financial processes
- Observe compliance with GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and company procedures
- Assist with audit requests and prepare audit workpapers as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years of cash accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-4 years of related work experience in a financial support capacity with general ledger experience or public accounting experience
- Knowledge and familiarity with accounting principles and terminology
- Strong understanding of functional processes in Oracle Cloud or Comparable ERP System (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and others)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel capabilities and other Microsoft products
- Highly analytical problem solver: conducts a thorough search for relevant information when approaching problems and recommends solutions
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
