Are you passionate about championing the rights of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you want a rewarding role where your expertise can make a real difference every day?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SENDIASS Officer to join our specialist team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

About the Role

In this rewarding role, you will empower parents, carers, children and young people by helping them understand their statutory rights and navigate the SEND system with confidence. You'll provide impartial information, support and guidance in line with the SEND Code of Practice, ensuring that families are informed, heard and able to advocate for the outcomes that matter most to them.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

•  Level 4 qualification & ISPEA legal training (or willingness to undertake) Specialist knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes and statutory rights for children, young people and families. 
•  Experience of providing impartial information, advice and guidance to families and young people. 
•  Ability to support and represent families through meetings, reviews, mediation and tribunal processes. 
•  Strong advocacy and negotiation skills, with confidence in providing professional challenge where required. 
•  Considerable (relevant) experience of supporting families or children with special educational needs. Experience of working effectively with schools, local authorities and other partner agencies. 
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and case recording. 
•  Knowledge of School and Local Authority’s Statutory responsibility for SEN and Knowledge and understanding of SEN disability law. Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and keeping children and young people at the centre of all practice.
