Job Duties:

Provides direct services and resources to all students related to their basic needs. Responds to referral service, creates, and implements action plans, and interacts with students, families and community contacts. Collaborates with professionals and other community service bodies, provides on-call services, makes referrals, and prepares reports and summaries.

  • Assesses needs of students/clients and provides or recommends interdisciplinary care
  • Serves as primary resource and referral source for students/clients in dealing with a crisis and/or mental health issues
  • Prepares reports based on documented data as needed
  • Documents all cases and accurately maintains records of cases discussed
  • Creates, implements, coordinates, and monitors treatment plans to assist students/clients in meeting wellness goals

Full-Time: 100%, Academic Staff, 12-month ongoing appointment, one vacancy

UW Standard Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as primary resource and comprehensive case manager with students (on campus and online) experiencing various levels of concern including, but not limited to academic, personal, mental/physical health, financial, and family challenges and/or crises.
  • Assesses needs of students and provides or refers to other areas for interdisciplinary care.
  • Creates, implements, coordinates, and monitors success plans to assist students in meeting their goals.
  • Assist with student basic needs such as, but not limited to emergency funding, medical withdrawal, pantry, collaboration with free store and career closet.
  • Follow up with students to check on their success plan progress and continued well-being to ensure persistence and retention at the university.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of cases utilizing Maxient, Navigate, and other related software programs.
  • Prepares reports based on documented data as needed.
  • Contributes to the Dean of Students Office through support of its administrative, student support, and crisis management functions.
  • Serves on the Dean’s Council (Behavioral Intervention Team)
  • Collaborates with campus partners such as Student Health and Counseling Services, Academic Affairs, University Police, Residence Life, Educational Support Services, etc.

Additional duties specific to the position:

  • Oversees the campus food pantry and campus free store, including supervising day‑to‑day operations, maintaining inventory systems, coordinating donation intake, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sustainability standards.
  • Training and supporting student staff and volunteers; developing partnerships with campus and community organizations; managing budgets and reporting; and promoting equitable access to resources all in support of the campus food pantry and campus free store.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Ability to quickly build rapport with students and colleagues
  • Ability to commit and/or desire to support vulnerable or at-risk populations
  • Ability to utilize a developmental and educational approach to provide resources when a student identifies a need and/or crisis situation
  • Ability to synthesize and document information regarding complex student issues
  • Ability to support students’ academic and personal development through their enrollment at UW-Superior
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of social work theory, student development theory, or case management practice
  • Knowledge of social and economic resources that address basic needs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 1-year professional human services, social services, or student services work experience in case management
  • Experience working with vulnerable or at-risk populations individuals of concern/behavioral intervention/at risk individuals

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Student Affairs, Educational Administration or related fields from an accredited institution
  • 1+ years’ work experience in college or university settings
  • Experience with case management software systems such as, but not limited to Navigate, Maxient, etc.
  • State licensure or certification if degree is in social work

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this position is: $44,000 - $47,000 annually. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.
