The Opportunity:
Join AIA in delivering on our purpose, vision and strategy by providing exceptional service to our clients. In this role, you will manage and assess death benefit claims in line with fund rules, legislation and trustee discretion. A key part of the position involves facilitating and evaluating claim assessments, including reviewing submissions from potential beneficiaries, to ensure fair and compliant distribution of benefits. You will play an important role in delivering high-quality, timely support to members and their beneficiaries.

To do this successfully you will:

  • Experience in superannuation, insurance or financial services, ideally with a background in claims assessment
  • Knowledge of superannuation death benefit regulations and claim staking processes
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to deliver fair and balanced decisions
  • Exceptional attention to detail and confidence in managing complex documentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and professional approach
  • Proficiency in workflow management platforms, claims systems and MS Office
  • RG146 compliance or other relevant financial services qualifications (highly regarded)
  • Legal or paralegal experience, particularly in estate or trust law (advantageous)
  • Previous experience working with trustees or within a trustee office environment (preferred)

Successful applications will have:

  • Experience managing claim staking portfolios and assessing superannuation death benefit claims in line with policies and regulations
  • Ability to prepare clear, empathetic communication, including complex information and adverse decisions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills to liaise with claimants, legal representatives and internal teams
  • Focus on delivering excellent customer experience, efficiency and quality outcomes
  • Capability to maintain accurate records, manage risk and adhere to policies and compliance requirements
  • Skills to prepare trustee recommendations with transparency and fairness
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and supporting audit, performance and industry standards
