Summary

The Case Assistant - Product Liability, Mass Torts, & Class Actions, in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, assists the paralegals and/or attorneys by maintaining case files, preparing documents for production, organizing and maintaining case or other files, assisting with filings, and maintaining databases, obtaining information for internal and external sources, and performing other administrative tasks.

   

Location   

This position is located in our Short Hills office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

   

Responsibilities 

·       Organizes document productions for attorney review.

·       Researches public records using public websites.

·       Gathers cases and exhibits from files for incorporation into briefs.

·       Assists with preparing a variety of documents, forms, charts, letters, etc.

·       Prepares binders, makes copies, enters data and maintains files.

·       Performs database research and data entry.

·       Obtains documents and other information from cities, municipalities or public agencies.

·       Obtains information from accounting, timekeeping and attorneys for audit letter responses.

·       Assists paralegals, attorneys, and business professionals with mailings and filings.

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

Desired Skills   

Demonstrated basic level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and database experience. Office experience in a law firm environment supporting paralegals and/or attorneys preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with paralegals, attorneys and clients on a regular basis. Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills necessary to manage volumes of documents, binders, letters, charts, etc. Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.

 

Minimum Education   

·       High School Diploma or GED.

 

Preferred Education 

·       Bachelor's Degree.

 

Minimum Years of Experience 

·       1 year of demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: This is primarily sedentary work, requiring occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. The role involves sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking and standing, and occasional travel, both domestic and international.

   

Work Environment   

Opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement combining remote and in-office work. The specific arrangement will be determined at the time of hiring and may be modified at the firm's discretion

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $34.09 - $44.32  per hour depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws.

 

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
