Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a full-time grant-funded opening for the position of Career Development Specialist, Avon Park  – Position 10023 with DOC - Institution.

What You’ll Do
As a Career Development Specialist, you’ll play a key role in providing services related to Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in-cell assignments through cell-front instruction for eligible participants who are in restrictive housing as directed by the Lead Educator. 

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Administration and interpretation of assessments;

  • Delivery of the 100-Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum;

  • Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department;

  • Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered;

  • Reporting monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions on the Department’s approved form, DC5-149 “Correctional Daily Attendance Roster” (Attachment #2);

  • Providing information pertaining to pre-release connections of community providers and employers for inmate release planning services to facility release officer’s; and

  • Assisting the Pre-Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre-release job search, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face-to-face and technology-based interactions.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • An Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma, and Two (2) years of professional experience in the workforce development, social services or corrections field.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.

Bonus points if you have:

  • An Associate’s Degree and one year of experience in the social services or corrections field.
