CardiologyOverview:
Sentara Careplex and Sentara Norfolk General Hospitals are seeking an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist to join our collaborative, patient-focused cardiovascular program serving patients across coastal Virginia. This role offers a balanced mix of inpatient and outpatient cardiology with strong team support and a sustainable call schedule.
Sentara is an accredited IAC program, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in cardiac imaging quality and patient care. Our hospitals have earned Platinum and Silver Awards from the NCDR Chest Pain–MI Registry, highlighting our dedication to top-tier, guideline-driven care for patients with chest pain and heart attacks.
Position Highlights:
- Weekly Schedule:
- 1–2 days at Sentara Careplex Hospital (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- 3–4 days at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Clinic Volume:
- Average of 20 patients per day
- Call Schedule:
- 1:6 call rotation, 5p – 8a
- Heart Failure and Shock Coverage
- 96% one-year heart transplant survival rate — highest in Virginia
- 30 heart transplants performed annually
- Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) 3-Star Rating — the highest quality designation in cardiothoracic surgery.
