Your Role in Our Story:

At ACT, we believe carbon markets are one of the most powerful tools for accelerating the global energy transition. As governments introduce new regulations, compliance programs, and market frameworks, businesses need trusted partners to help them navigate complexity and unlock opportunity. As a Carbon Markets Specialist, you will sit at the intersection of policy, markets, and innovation. You'll help ACT stay ahead of regulatory developments across North American and global carbon markets, translating complex policy changes into actionable insights that drive commercial strategy, product development, and market expansion. In essence, your role involves:

  • Monitor and analyze carbon market policies, regulations, and market developments across U.S., Canadian, and international programs.
  • Translate complex regulatory frameworks into clear, actionable insights for commercial, product, and leadership teams.
  • Identify opportunities for new products and services based on evolving market dynamics and regulatory changes.
  • Partner with commercial, legal, and operations teams to ensure products are compliant, relevant, and ready for market.
  • Contribute to ACT's thought leadership through market analysis, policy commentary, and external communications.
  • Represent ACT at industry conferences, workshops, and stakeholder engagements, building relationships with market participants and regulatory bodies.
  • Help shape ACT's strategic response to emerging trends in carbon and environmental markets.

Your expertise will directly influence how ACT supports clients through regulatory change, develops innovative market solutions, and expands into new opportunities. Working across teams and engaging with key stakeholders, you'll play a critical role in strengthening ACT's position as a trusted leader in environmental commodities.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact, helping businesses decarbonize, supporting the growth of carbon markets, and contributing to the solutions that will define the future of the energy transition.

Your Expertise:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualification and attributes:

  • 3 - 6 years of experience in carbon markets, environmental commodities, energy markets, policy analysis, regulation, market research, or a related field.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Environmental Science, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks; the ability to connect policy insights to commercial opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of key North American carbon programs, including the Western Climate Initiative (WCI), Alberta TIER, British Columbia OBPS, and New York Cap-and-Invest (NYCI).
  • Familiarity with broader environmental markets and emerging policy mechanisms such as voluntary carbon markets (VCM), CORSIA, Article 6, tax credits, power, and fuels markets is a plus.
  • Quantitative and analytical capabilities, including assessing commodity market fundamentals and uncovering emerging market opportunities.
  • Strategic thinker skilled at synthesizing complex regulatory and market information into actionable business insight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage both internal and external stakeholders.

In this role, your impact will be visible in:

  • High-quality insights that shape ACT’s strategy and product development.
  • New market opportunities identified and brought to life.
  • Strong collaboration across teams, enabling smarter and faster decision-making.
  • ACT’s continued reputation as a trusted expert in carbon markets.
