Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Capture Manager to lead international captures in the Middle East. This position reports to Northrop Grumman offices at either McLean, Virginia or Huntsville, Alabama. This leadership position is an important role for the growth of the division, driving the Business Unit’s long-term growth in the international markets for Integrated Air and Missile Defense and Multi-Domain Command and Control. The selected candidate will work closely with the Business Unit’s leadership team and other industry and government partners to manage all aspects of the assigned pursuits.  The successful candidate will be a self-starter with experience in both program management and in leading business opportunity analysis, strategy development, and execution of captures/proposals toward winning new business. The selected candidate must be adept at quickly understanding what is required to win, developing compelling value propositions, and presenting strong business cases to secure leadership approvals. The position is responsible for developing the capture strategy to include a business solution for pursuit of opportunities; identifying potential customers, competitive assessments, teaming suppliers, and prices-to-win; and participating in bid and proposal activities. The capture manager will work closely with marketing.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Leads and manages a cross functional capture team and executes capture activities that lead to winning new business and achieving awards and sales growth.
  • Creates / shapes and prioritizes new business opportunities to achieve business financial targets for growth.
  • Maintains strong U.S. domestic and international customer relationship management /development and performs customer acquisition analysis and shaping.
  • Develop capture strategy and tactics to produce capture products such as competitive assessments, teaming strategies, and solution-to-win analysis results applied to improve competitive posture.
  • Develop business relationships and industry partnerships toward enabling teaming partners and industry associations to help drive partnerships.
  • Plan, conduct risk management and lead project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for large system development type contracts.  Execute proposal development including managing process, writing proposal responses, and developing pricing to deliver compelling and compliant proposals.
  • Determines organizational objectives and interprets company policies. Completed work is reviewed, from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results.
  • Advanced knowledge of techniques, practices or theories gained through wide seasoning and/or special development. Typically, a broad functional knowledge within a discipline(s).
  • Makes decisions that require evaluation of many alternatives. These decisions may be made under conditions of uncertainty or where little precedent exists. Typically integrates input from multiple sources and which may affect an entire division.
  • Responsible for the successful operation of activities that have significant consequence to the organization. Accountable for ensuring that overall budgets, schedules, and performance standards are met.
  • Develop and manage investment capture project funds, schedule, and execution.
  • Represents the organizational unit as prime internal and external contact on contracts or operations. Conducts briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives. Interacts with equivalent-level managers concerning matters of significance to the company. Represents the functional/business unit or program as internal & external contact on contracts or operations; has regular interaction with director & VP-level customer management; has influence over customer perceptions/opinions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 years of experience related to Department of War (DoW) business, programs, or operational experience
  • Strong international experience in strategy, capture, and program management
  • Knowledge of DoW acquisition and U.S. foreign military sales processes inclusive of U.S. export and technology release policy
  • Strong interpersonal skills that ensure collaborative and trusting relationships with the team, peers, customers, and leadership
  • Capacity to guide and lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and deliver executive level presentations
  • This position may require up to 50% of travel. 
  • Active Secret or higher clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with strong technical expertise
  • 15 years of experience related to DoW programs
  • Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) domain, program, or operational experience
  • 10 years of experience with domestic or international business development, capture and/or program management
  • Knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Government’s competitive acquisition process including federal procurement regulations (FAR/DFAR)
  • Experience living and/or working overseas
  • Applied DoW FMS management experience & direct experience working with Middle East partners
  • Direct experience working technically with IAMD command and control programs  
  • Current/active TS/SCI security clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $184,300.00 - $276,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
