About Mecka AI

Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI.
We design and operate global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI labs and robotics companies to train and validate humanoid and embodied AI systems.
We work closely with frontier robotics teams to bridge real-world data, simulation, learning-based systems, and deployed hardware.

About the Role

You will build the operating capability that lets Mecka's capture fleet collect useful data day after day. As devices reach more people and locations, your work will turn individual deployments into a reliable network for gathering the experience robots need to learn.

You will own device readiness and recovery, then turn what you learn into diagnostics, automation, and procedures that scale. Bring practical Linux, scripting, and hardware troubleshooting skills, and the judgment to follow a problem from an operator's report to a verified fix across the fleet.

What You’ll Do
  • Own device issues from the first report through diagnosis, repair or recovery, and verification that the device is ready for use.

  • Troubleshoot cameras, connected peripherals, Linux software, storage, networking, and data transfers using logs, measurements, and physical testing.

  • Prepare and validate devices for deployment, including configuration, software updates, recording checks, and inspection after return.

  • Support operators and partners with clear technical guidance. Reproduce product defects and work with engineering teams to resolve them.

  • Build diagnostic scripts, automated readiness checks, and recovery procedures that reduce manual work as the fleet grows.

  • Track recurring failures, verify corrective actions, and improve readiness checks using evidence from the fleet.

What You BringMust-have:
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting physical devices that combine hardware and software, such as embedded systems, cameras, robotics, or connected equipment.

  • Practical Linux skills, including command-line tools, logs, processes, services, filesystems, and network diagnostics.

  • Python or shell scripting skills for diagnostics, device checks, and operational automation.

  • Ability to isolate faults through repeatable tests and distinguish hardware, software, configuration, and operator issues.

  • Experience validating device behavior after a repair, configuration change, or software update.

  • Clear communication with technical and nontechnical users, including useful reproduction steps, diagnostic evidence, and instructions.

  • Ability to prioritize issues by operational impact and follow them through to a verified outcome.

Nice-to-have:
  • Experience supporting distributed device fleets, remote diagnostics, provisioning, or software updates.

  • Experience diagnosing recording problems such as dropped frames, corrupted files, synchronization errors, or incomplete transfers.

  • Experience with electronics troubleshooting, component replacement, or repair qualification.

About You
  • You are ambitious about what you build and driven to make it exceptional. You can point to results you personally delivered.

  • You care deeply about your craft, pursue difficult questions, and learn quickly to push your work further.

  • You take initiative and own problems through to results. You work independently, make decisions, and bring others in when needed.

  • You know the details and follow through on testing, setbacks, and the practical work that makes an idea succeed.

  • You earn trust through honest communication. You own mistakes, share credit, and help the people around you succeed.

A Note on Applying

Studies show women and candidates from underrepresented groups often only apply when they meet 100% of the listed qualifications, while others apply after meeting 60%. If you don't check every box above but believe you can do the job, we encourage you to apply — we're looking for capability and trajectory, not a perfect checklist match.

Use of Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment

This includes activities such as drafting job descriptions, generating interview questions, note-taking and recordings, and supporting sourcing and scheduling workflows. All candidate evaluations, interviews, and hiring decisions are made by members of the Mecka team. While AI tools may assist with screening and assessment, they do not replace human judgment in selection decisions. Our use of AI is intended to streamline routine tasks, improve consistency, and enhance the overall candidate experience. We are committed to upholding principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in all hiring activities. Mecka regularly reviews its recruitment practices to mitigate bias and to ensure alignment with applicable laws and evolving best practices.
