The Campus Programming Manager reports to the Director of Programming and is charged with supporting the development and implementation of diverse, faculty and student based artistic programs for the Brown Arts Institute including, but not limited to, performances, installations, exhibition, workshops, and programs. The Program Manager works closely with faculty teaching courses for the Brown Arts Institute, or within BAI venues, to support class-sponsored visits by guest artists and other public facing events.  The Program Manager develops and maintains event budgets, and should possess strong project management, event production, and financial management skills, and a passion for the arts at Brown University.

Brown University is undergoing a tremendous growth in the arts, with new leadership, and the recent opening of the state of the art, one of a kind Lindemann Performing Arts Center. An experienced, creative, and collaborative Campus Programming Manager will play a pivotal role in the future success of the Brown Arts Institute. The Program Manager must enjoy collegial, collaborative relationships with their immediate colleagues in the BAI Programming Department, as well as other members of the BAI staff. In addition to working with faculty and students, the Program Manager will work closely with the artists, agents, producers, curators, and creative teams involved in the programs being brought to campus by faculty and student organizers. Education and Experience

  • Required:  BA or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2-4 years in arts administration, event planning, or related experience or combination of education and experience including 2+ years in:

    • Artistic program producing

    • Budgeting and financial management

    • Project Management

  • Proven success in event planning and producing in a range of disciplines

  • Proven success in budgeting, financial management, and project management

  • Knowledge of and experience in a broad range of artistic practice including performing and visual arts

  • Ability to think strategically, coupled with an ability to be flexible as the programmatic needs of the BAI continue to evolve

  • Ability to interact with broad range of individuals (faculty, students, administrators, artists & management, vendors)

  • Ability to stay cool-headed in the face of challenges

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

Some evening and weekend work should be expected.
