Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is hiring a Campus Mail Courier in Daytona Beach. Under general supervision, this position will oversee and is responsible for providing prompt, accurate, efficient and safe Courier Service to the University community as follows:
- Service over 100 stops twice daily by loading, transporting, delivering, and pickup of US mail, parcels, & interoffice correspondence to and from Daytona Beach departments , Worldwide Campus offices and other affiliated stops.
- Assist with the handling of incoming mail delivery from the USPS by pre-sorting and placing department mail in sort stations slots, pull mail from slots and place in department mailbags to prepare for delivery to various destinations on and off campus.
- Oversee and is responsible for proper operation, care and maintenance of equipment and Mail Center Vehicles used in performance of duties.
- Assist the Mail Service Specialist with processing outgoing University mail/packages through the USPS using a Quadient Mailing System.
- Assist students at Customer Service window with package pickup and general questions.
Qualifications
- High School (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math.
- 1-3 years experience in Business/Customer Service.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):
- More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
- More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
- A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.
- Progressive office experience and knowledge of postal & shipping regulations in relation to mail handling, sorting and processing.
- Experience in transportation and delivery.
- Knowledge of mail processing equipment, mail handling techniques and mail distribution.
- Must have good communication and organizational skills.
- Must have good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Must have good customer relations skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment meeting expected deadlines on time sensitive material.
