About ICF Next

ICF Next brings together strategy, creativity, data, and technology to solve complex challenges and move people when it matters most. We work with organizations tackling some of today’s most important issues, from public health and energy to climate, resilience, and economic opportunity. Our work isn’t simply about communication. It’s about helping people understand, make informed decisions, build confidence, and take meaningful action.

We create integrated campaigns and experiences that connect with people wherever they are, building ideas that work seamlessly across channels and endure across every touchpoint. Whether we’re launching a national behavior-change campaign, helping communities navigate change, or strengthening trust, we believe the best creative work combines insight, strategy, and exceptional craft to create measurable impact.

The Role

We are looking for an exceptional On-Call Senior Video Producer who knows how to turn ambitious creative ideas into exceptional work.

This is an on-call senior agency production role for someone with deep experience leading complex video and motion productions for major campaigns, from brief through final delivery. You will partner closely with Creative, Strategy, Account, Media, and clients to determine the smartest production approach for the work, bringing together the right talent, partners, process, budget, and technology to make the idea as strong as it can be.

The work spans live action, motion design, animation, broadcast, branded content, digital and social video, audio, and emerging formats. Some assignments will call for large-scale, director-led productions; others will require faster, more agile approaches. Great producers know the difference and know how to get the most from both.

We are looking for someone with exceptional production judgment: someone who knows the production landscape, understands great creative work, anticipates problems before they become problems, and can navigate the realities of budget, schedule, talent, rights, and logistics without allowing those realities to diminish the idea.

The immediate need is video and motion production for a Maryland-based energy partner, supporting its work across the region. You should be based in, or within easy travel distance of, the DC metro area and able to get on set in the region, often at short notice.

Location

The immediate need is video and motion production for a Maryland-based energy partner, supporting its work across the region. You should be based in Maryland or the DMV area and able to be on set locally. The role may require participation in client and internal meetings and travel for productions, primarily within Maryland and the DMV.

About the On-Call Role

This is an on-call position supporting production needs as they arise. Hours will vary depending (weekly average of zero to 30) on project and production requirements and may include periods of concentrated work around pre-production, shoots, post-production, and major campaign deliverables.

What You Will Do

  • Lead video and motion productions from initial brief and scoping through bidding, pre-production, production, post-production, delivery, and final reconciliation.
  • Partner with Creative, Strategy, Account, Media, and client teams to determine the right production approach, scale, partners, budget, and schedule for each assignment.
  • Develop smart production solutions that balance creative ambition, craft, timing, and budget while protecting the strength of the original idea.
  • Lead productions across live action, motion design, animation, broadcast, branded content, digital and social video, audio, and emerging formats.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage directors, production companies, editors, animators, motion designers, post-production partners, talent, freelancers, and other specialist vendors.
  • Develop and manage production estimates, competitive bids, scopes, schedules, purchase orders, change orders, actuals, and reconciliations, maintaining strong financial oversight throughout.
  • Lead production logistics and requirements, including casting, locations, crews, travel, equipment, insurance, talent agreements, releases, usage, licensing, and rights.
  • Lead shoots and recording sessions in close partnership with creative teams, directors, crews, clients, and production partners, ensuring the work remains true to the creative vision.
  • Oversee post-production through editorial, animation, motion, sound, music, color, finishing, versioning, accessibility, trafficking, and final delivery.
  • Anticipate production challenges early, communicate risks and options clearly, and bring informed solutions that help teams make strong decisions and keep the work moving.

What We Are Looking For

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of agency, production company, or equivalent video production experience, with significant experience independently leading complex productions.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience in advertising, communications, film, production, media, or a related field.

Professional Skills

  • Deep experience producing video and motion work for campaigns across channels and formats, including live action, motion design, animation, broadcast, digital, social, branded content, audio, and post-production.
  • A strong body of produced work demonstrating exceptional quality, range, craft, and production complexity.
  • Strong knowledge of agency production practices, including AICP/AICE bidding, competitive bids, estimates, scopes, production agreements, and financial reconciliation.
  • Deep working knowledge of SAG-AFTRA and non-union talent, usage, renewals, licensing, releases, rights management, music, stock, and other production considerations.
  • Strong knowledge of the production marketplace and established relationships with directors, production companies, post-production partners, animators, motion designers, freelancers, and specialist talent.
  • Exceptional production judgment, with the ability to evaluate different approaches, anticipate challenges, manage risk, and find solutions without compromising the integrity of the work.
  • A strong understanding of creative craft and how storytelling, performance, cinematography, design, editing, animation, sound, and production choices contribute to the strength of the final work.
  • Excellent financial, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex productions, budgets, partners, a
  • nd stakeholders simultaneously.
  • A collaborative, calm, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to build trust with creative teams, clients, crews, vendors, and production partners.

Experience That Stands Out

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience producing video for national or large-scale campaigns is highly valued.
  • Experience producing for energy, utility, or other regulated clients is a strong plus, given the immediate focus of this role.
  • Experience in public health, government, healthcare, or other highly scrutinized environments is also valuable. We are equally interested in producers who have made exceptional work for consumer brands, technology, entertainment, and culture and are excited to bring that experience to consequential challenges.
  • Experience with emerging production approaches, including virtual production, real-time workflows, generative AI, and evolving production technologies, is also valuable. We are looking for someone who understands when new technology can genuinely improve the work, process, speed, or economics of production rather than using technology for its own sake.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working arrangements, including remote and hybrid options.
  • Competitive benefits, including healthcare and retirement plans.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • A diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • A collaborative environment with opportunities to connect across teams.
  • Opportunities to contribute to social impact and community initiatives.
