The Demographic and Health Surveys Program (DHS) seeks a freelance copyeditor to help edit analysis reports. The DHS Program assists countries worldwide in the collection and use of data to monitor and evaluate population, health, and nutrition programs. The Program's further analysis reports use data from these surveys to take a more in-depth look at specific issues. These include qualitative, quantitative, GIS, and comparative reports, as well as working papers.
About the position:
The publications team, responsible for formatting, editing, and proofing the reports, is looking for an experienced freelance editor to work remotely and on call. The editor will be responsible for copyediting and proofing. Copyediting involves reviewing and revising content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, style, and syntax, and ensuring the correct tone, voice, clarity, flow, and structure of content. Proofing involves checking spelling, grammar, punctuation, style, and syntax.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years' relevant experience copyediting demographic, health, or social science journal articles and reports
- 5+ years' experience editing works by writers whose first language is not English
- 5+ years' experience using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style (17e) and AMA (11e) reference style
- Ability to turn around projects in a timely manner
- Experience copyediting table- and figure-heavy reports
Suitable applicants will be asked to submit examples of edited publications and references.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$69,862.00 - $118,765.00
