Key Responsibilities
The Officer Cadet is responsible to the Designated Deck Officer for:
· Performing assigned tasks in accordance with work procedures and/or quality plans as instructed by the Duty Officer or the Chief Officer
· Performing assigned tasks safely and effectively, immediately reporting hazardous conditions to the Duty Officer or the Chief Officer
· Ensuring that work of a hazardous nature is not undertaken without prior approval, suitable training and without close supervision of the Chief Officer
· Familiarizing self with all safety equipment and safety procedures onboard and with regulations and working procedures relevant to tasks being performed
· Diligently following the structured program of onboard training and completing tasks listed in the cadet training record book (ISF) or equivalent record book
· Diligently completing distance learning programs, keeping personal training record book up-to-date, and completing academic training assignments as required by the nautical college
· Actively seeking learning opportunities in preparation for promotion to next rank
