Why Join Adventurer Manufacturing?
Since 1969 we have been building campers that help people explore farther, spend more time outdoors, and create memories that last a lifetime.
In this role, you will help bring those experiences to life. Your drawings will become real products, built by teammates you work alongside and used by people across North America. Every accurate detail contributes to a better-built camper, a smoother manufacturing process, and a product our customers can depend on wherever the road takes them.
Role Purpose
Help turn engineering designs into clear, accurate information that our manufacturing teams can build from.
Adventurer Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter to support the Adventurer and Overlander engineering teams. This role creates and maintains 3D models, production drawings, bills of materials, and product documentation for new products and improvements to existing models.
Working closely with engineers and manufacturing, you will help ensure drawings reflect approved designs, documentation stays current, and production teams have the information they need to build consistent, high-quality campers and motorhomes.
Key Responsibilities
CAD Modeling & Production Drawings
- Create and update 3D part models, assemblies, and 2D drawings under engineering direction.
- Prepare detailed drawings for components, cabinetry, structures, and product assemblies.
- Clearly define dimensions, materials, hardware, tolerances, and assembly details.
- Develop exploded views and installation details to support manufacturing and service.
- Check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submitting them for engineering approval.
Bills of Materials & Document Control
- Create and maintain bills of materials aligned with CAD assemblies and approved product configurations.
- Support part-number creation and accurate engineering information within the ERP system.
- Process approved drawing revisions and engineering changes, maintaining clear revision histories.
- Organize CAD files and supporting documents using established naming and document-control standards.
- Help ensure released drawings and bills of materials reflect the approved product design.
Engineering & Manufacturing Support
- Work with Adventurer and Overlander engineers to document new designs and product improvements, and support ECR/ECO as required.
- Visit the production floor to verify dimensions, understand assembly methods, and gather feedback.
- Identify fit, clearance, or documentation issues and bring them forward for engineering resolution.
- Incorporate approved changes from prototype builds, production feedback, and supplier information.
- Coordinate with manufacturing engineering, purchasing, and quality to clarify technical documentation.
Continuous Improvement
- Help standardize drawing templates, common parts, and CAD libraries across both product lines.
- Identify opportunities to improve drawing clarity, documentation accuracy, and drafting efficiency.
- Support practical designs that consider manufacturability, assembly, and service access.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or certificate in CAD drafting, mechanical design, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in parametric 3D CAD software and creating detailed 2D production drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and bills of materials.
- Understanding of mechanical assemblies, materials, and common manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and disciplined file and revision management.
- Ability to manage priorities across two product lines and communicate when requirements or timelines need clarification.
- Comfortable working both at a workstation and on the manufacturing floor.
Preferred Experience
- Two or more years of drafting or mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with RVs, marine, automotive products, structural, composites, or fabricated assemblies.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
- Familiarity with ERP and product data management systems.
- Experience documenting physical parts or assemblies through measurement and observation.
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
What Success Looks Like
- Drawings are accurate, clear, and delivered on schedule.
- CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials remain aligned.
- Approved changes are documented and released consistently.
- Manufacturing teams receive usable information with fewer clarification requests.
- Both engineering teams can rely on responsive, organized drafting support.
Operating principle: Translate design intent into accurate, buildable technical documentation across both Adventurer and Overlander product lines.
