Amentum is seeking a Cable and Antenna Systems Specialist to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Cable and Antenna Systems Specialist will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of antenna systems and associated equipment, supporting government and military operations. The position ensures the readiness, safety, and reliability of radio frequency communication systems while adhering to established technical standards and safety protocols.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installation of antenna systems and associated hardware.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on high frequency, very high frequency, and other antenna systems.
  • Work at elevated heights on antenna structures while following all applicable safety regulations and fall protection requirements.
  • Assemble, install, repair, and maintain antenna systems using specialized tools.
  • Troubleshoot and repair damaged or malfunctioning antenna components, including cables, reflectors, waveguides, and related RF equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and implement best practices to minimize radio frequency exposure hazards.  
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, and documentation of completed repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with Radiation Hazard Safetly requirements outlined in the Antenna Maintenance High Frequency Manual.
  • Participate in required Radiation Hazard safety training prior to performing antenna maintenance activities.
  • Evaluate materials, equipment, and tools required for maintenance projects and recommend procurement as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in maintaining antenna systems and related equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience using tools associated with antenna maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of antenna systems, outside plant equipment, communications, and industry safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing and working at heights.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. 
  • Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce
  • A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle. Valid country driver’s license. and passport.
  • Familiarity with the Antenna Maintenance High Frequency Manual.
  • Completion of Radio Frequency Radiation Hazards safely training.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

 Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.

Skills Required

  • At least three years of experience maintaining and working on antennas and associated antenna components
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience or aptitude to operate erection equipment and utilize tools associated with antenna systems
  • Working knowledge and technical experience with outside plant equipment
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport
  • Must be medically fit to perform maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials
