For our office in Nuremberg, we are looking for a C2 Software Engineer (m/f/d) starting as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver command-and-control (C2) systems to meet operational and technical requirements derived from strategic company objectives
- Integrate Walaris software and technology into military and security systems to add autonomous capabilities and boost overall system performance
- Develop software systems that improve system reliability, deployment velocity, and developer experience
- Own and deliver complex features end-to-end across the full stack, from web-based frontend interfaces through distributed backend services and technical design through production deployment iteration
- Define work packages for subcontractors and review development deliverables to ensure quality and alignment with project goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that requirements from R&D, sales, and product management are fully integrated and effectively addressed throughout the development process
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, information technology, or a comparable qualification
- Several years of experience in the development of complex software systems with strong proficiency in C++, Python, or Rust
- Experience with distributed systems and system integration
- Hands-on experience with multithreading and concurrency, asynchronous and distributed systems, containerized architectures (e.g., Docker-based environments), messaging systems (e.g., ZeroMQ, DDS, or similar), and performance optimization and system tuning
- Expertise in software development on Linux platforms
- Solid understanding of networking protocols and communication mechanisms, including TCP/IP, UDP, and inter-process communication (IPC)
- Experience designing and working with REST APIs
- Knowledge of low-latency communication systems
- Fluent in English and German

- Experience with high-availability and fault-tolerant systems
- Understanding of real-time and deterministic system requirements
- Experience with sensor integration and multi-modal sensor fusion in event-driven systems
- Background in geospatial data systems (GIS/geoinformatics) or processing of time-series data
- Familiarity with military or NATO standards
